DATE: 1/20/00 TIME: 7:30pm PLACE: Westminster Presbyterian Church
CHAIRMAN: Shad Funkhouser SECRETARY: Steve Smith
PURPOSE OF MEETING: Quarterly General Meeting
October General Meeting minutes read and approved.
REPORTS:
Treasurer:
Current balance: $34,889.54.
Security Patrol / Neighborhood Watch:
No report.
Traffic Study:
Art Auerbach reported that no study has been done to date, but hopefully will be completed within the month. The study will count cars and speeds on Citadel, Kinglsey, Mayfair and other streets. It does not include Sheridan since it is a state road.
Garden Club:
Twigs reminded the group that the Garden Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be at Cathy Kramer’s house at 1051 Citadel at 7:30pm.
Cheshire Bridge Watch:
- The plans for an entrance gate for the new development at the end of Sheridan Road have been stopped. The developer was payed the builder not to install the gate.
- Two new businesses are coming to Cheshire Bridge: Gail Kay Fabrics and a new restaurant at the old McDonald’s location.
- Larcenies on Cheshire Bridge Road for November and December totaled 25 and 20, respectively. Attendees were reminded to keep cars and belongings secure to prevent crime from spilling over into our neighborhood.
- A 4-story, 136-room extended-stay hotel is being planned for the site formerly set aside for Ace Hardware. Developers have been cooperative and will retain ownership. Sewage issue was resolved by planning a holding tank that will moderate flow. The LVPCA Board has written a letter of support for the project.
- Plans are being made to convert Brookvalley Church into a 167-student "Head-Start school". The LVPCA Board has written a letter opposing this on the grounds that the plan resembles a day-care center more than an educational facility, and no plans have been made to deal with resulting traffic. The Zoning Review Board meeting to review this plan is coming up and every body is encouraged to attend: February 10, 6pm, Atlanta City Hall, City Council Chambers.
Zoning:
- No special-use permit has been taken out on 1525 Chantilly Road project. Until that happens, we cannot take action against the project.
- Plans are underway to convert the retail area in Executive Park to office use.
New Business:
- Michael Carroll of the Morningside Neighborhood Association spoke about the Wildwood Urban Forest Group. The group is raising funds to preserve a 60 acre portion of the South Peachtree Creek watershed.
- Cheshire Bridge Road restriping did not include bicycle lanes as the approved plan stipulated. The Cheshire Bridge Task Force is pursuing corrective measures.
MEETING ADJOURNED AT: 8:35pm
