MINUTES OF QUARTERLY GENERAL MEETING

PURPOSE OF MEETING: Quarterly General Meeting

Attendance: 44

April General Meeting minutes read and approved.

REPORTS:

Security Patrol:

Overall, crime in the neighborhood is down. There is a problem with stolen mail, and the Postal Service is addressing it. The Patrol’s voice mail system failed for several days recently, but that problem has been fixed.

Treasurer: Bonnie Jackson

Current balance: $45,600.

Bonnie explained how we are going to a common renewal date for membership of June 1. Those who have been renewing on different dates will receive a prorated dues statement.

Bonnie also affirmed that there is the Neighborhood Patrol is sufficiently funded for the remainder of the year.

Cheshire Bridge Watch: Shad Funkhouser

The 112 Club is having its liquor license reviewed by the review board. It is a clean license since it is owned by an individual and not by the Club. We have the opportunity to express our views on its renewal to the License Review Board during its meeting on August 23 at 5pm in Atlanta City Hall, 2nd floor Council Room.

Neighborhood Watch: Jane Jaskevich

The National Night Out Ice Cream Social is scheduled for August 1 from 7:00-8:30pm. There will be several locations throughout the neighborhood, marked by signs.

Traffic Study: Art Auerbach

The Traffic Department is still working on a proposal for reducing traffic speeds on Kingsley, Mayfair and Citadel. When completed, the proposal will be presented in a public hearing. To get a proposed design implemented, 65% of affected households must vote in favor of it.

Briarcliff/Sheridan Intersection Improvements:

The Department of Transportation is currently acquiring easements. Work is scheduled to start on January 1.

LaVista Park:

Residents were encouraged to contact State Rep. Doug Teper and Tom Black (Roads & Drainage) to get the drainage problems resolved in LaVista Park.

New Business:

The suggestion was made to have a mail drop box installed in the neighborhood as a way to reduce mail theft.

The suggestion was made to have raccoon-proof garbage cans installed in the Park. Bonnie Jackson will inquire into availability and cost.

Program:

The floor was opened for comments and suggestions for the direction of Board and Association activities. There was general approval of the current direction. Several suggestions were made regarding improvements on LaVista Road:

Install streetlights

This requires approx. 60% approval of homeowners.

A previous newsletter article regarding streetlights will be reprinted.

Speeding

Install sidewalks

Henry Batten agreed to champion the streetlight issue.
