Confluence Park

Posted: July 2nd, 2009 @ 9:53pm

With the full support of Mayor Shirley Franklin, LLCC is in the process of negotiating with the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management a Memorandum of Understanding to assume the maintenance of the sewer right-of-way along the North and South Forks of Peachtree Creek surrounding the Lindridge Martin Manor neighborhood. Keeping the right-of-way cleared will also enable hikers to use the trail.

This is the first step in our long-range goal of building Confluence Park, a beautiful plan developed during our Blueprints study by Landscape Architect Bob Thorn. This promises to be a showplace urban park running under expressway bridges.

This park and trial system will ultimately link up with the 31-mile trail system the South Fork Conservancy is pursuing along the South Fork of Peachtree Creek and connecting to a trail system to the Atlanta Beltline.

If you are interested in participating in the planning and execution of this project, please contact Rich Sussman, our Parks & Greenspace Chairperson at parks@lindberghlavista.org. In addition to many volunteers that will be needed, we are contacting local landscaping companies to sign on to the project.
