| Halpern Enterprises Announces $5,000 Award to LLCC | June 28, 2010 @ 8:14pm | Halpern Enterprises, Inc. has announced a $5,000 contribution to the Lindbergh LaVista Corridor Coalition (LLCC): a non-profit alliance of residents and businesses in the Lindridge Martin Manor, LaVista Park, and Woodland Hills neighborhoods. The award comes as the first in the LLCC’s efforts to secure over $100,000 in fundraising contributions for upcoming projects.
Founded in 2008, the LLCC recently contracted with Perkins+Will, an award-winning, international urban design firm. The Halpern award will be used to fund the first stage of Perkins+Will’s proposal: a richly-detailed geographic information system (GIS). The GIS database will be useful as a visual compilation of an extensive amount of data currently available – demographics, existing planning studies, census information, hydrology reports, tax values, as well as other City of Atlanta and DeKalb county records. The total cost of the GIS system is $15,000.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support of Halpern Enterprises,” stated LLCC President Henry Batten. “They’re an important stakeholder, and we’re excited to continue to partner with them in the protection and development of our neighborhoods.”
While continuing to work on a long-term Strategic Plan, the LLCC is also committed to seeing short-term improvements in the areas of walkability, accessibility to green space, inefficient roadway infrastructure, and addressing increased vehicular traffic. Brozovic, Regional Leasing Director for Halpern, is a former Board member of the LLCC.
