ChocoLate' - Sign of the Times?July 13, 2010 @ 8:08am
A visit yesterday to ChocoLate' coffee shop in the new LaVista Walk development 1159 LaVista Road, revealed a note that they are CLOSING for business on Wednesday July 14th.

As the first business to open in LaVista Walk and a strong supporter of neighborhood causes, particularly the LLCC monthly Adopt-a-Road clean up, they will be missed. The note about the closing had little information, but I assume this location just couldn't build enough business to survive start up in a brand new market.

Their other 2 cafes at 2558 Shallowford and 2094 North Decatur remain open and would appreciate your support. This is a great family owned business. We have one more day to show this location our appreciation!

Confirmation from Owner to Henry BattenJuly 13, 2010 @ 8:53pm
Nope, it’s not a rumor. If you’ve been at the shop lately you’ll see posters in the windows letting our customers know that this Wednesday will be our last day open, we’ll be open 7 am – 10 am. Henry, despite our endless efforts unfortunately we really have not been able to connect with the neighborhood as we anticipated and have done at our other locations. As you can imagine, with the type of investment we put into this property our expectations were not met, but the shop was successful enough to attract another operator. The new business is an individual that works a corporate job and will be using the space to “showcase” the products he sells on the corporate side. The business specializes in providing food service for nursing homes, so they will be serving the food that is prepared off site & re-heated at this location.

Our other two locations are in very close proximity and we also have complementary conference rooms for customer meetings, please feel free to stop by and check us out. One of the shops is only 3 exits up I-85, I times it the other day and I was there in 8 minutes! Good luck with LLLC, you are doing a fantastic job for the community and I am sure your efforts will continue to “beautify” the neighborhood.

It was a pleasure knowing you and I look forward to running into you at one of my other coffee shops. Take care!
