| Kittredge Park - Nov. 12th | November 15, 2011 @ 2:06pm | The following are comments from FKP Secretary Bill Lide. While the work in the park has progressed to becoming a useable place, it is disappointing the minimal amount of interest from LaVista Park. Even tiny North Amanda Circle Homeowners Association has many more volunteers than LVPCA. I am still looking for a second person to represent LVPCA in Friends of Kittredge Park. This board position, doesn't require monthly participation in clean up of invasives, nor does it involve more than a handful of meetings per year. I will continue to lead clean ups, pick up tools from DeKalb and other sources, and participate in official meetings; but it would be helpful to once again have a second representatives like the other 4 neighborhoods, so we are on equal footing. Call or email if interested. Gene Schmidt 404-633-4818
This past Saturday we held our FKP monthly clean up in Kittredge Park. Joining us were 100 volunteers (!) from Emory University in conjunction with Emory Cares Day. Emory students and staff have been, by far, our most consistent and largest volunteer contributor throughout our efforts for the past three years and we could not have done half of what has been accomplished without their help. They are always energetic and helpful and have a genuine interest in what is going on in the park. It is a positive reflection on the students and the University. Thank you so much.
We continued to work on the initial trail through the northern part of the park. We have cleared the trail and all that is left is to finish mulching it. We hauled away a good bit of privet and brush. |
