he Neighborhood Watch is a program that links residents to the police. It helps foster the sense of community by helping neighbors interact. We are always in need of volunteer block captains. The duties of a Block Captain are:
1. Maintaining a list of your neighbors' addresses and phone numbers. Most areas already have lists, just work numbers would need to be collected. The Watch is currently working on creating a street map identifying each house by
address and phone (home and work numbers) to be given out to the residents on each street. This will create a feeling of awareness making it easier to contact neighbors in case of emergency.
2. Alerting residents on your list when crime happens. Since the patrol has been hired there has only a few incidents therefore perhaps this part of the job has become limited.
3. Welcoming new neighbors to the neighborhood. LaVista Park has a welcome
Do you know anyone who has recently moved into LaVista Park? Did you know we have a Welcome Wagon program? Call Kathryn Perkins at

PATROL, CONTINUED
911 regardless of how insignificant you think the request may be. Again, the park remains one of our focal points and we would like to remind everyone that the park is only open during daylight hours.
