NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING

t's always interesting to hear a fellow LaVista Park resident comment on the civic association board's "agenda".  That remark is interesting because the board doesn't have an agenda … other than what is established by you, the residents of
LaVista Park.  The board's most important function is to gather and disseminate information to the civic association.  It is then the association's responsibility to establish an agenda that the board will follow on behalf of the neighborhood.
Sometimes we run into a "no-brainer", like a flagrant violation of DeKalb County's Zoning Ordinance and frequently, there is no time to present the issue to the civic association before action must be taken. In this situation, we feel obligated to act quickly to support the codes and ordinances that have been set forth to protect us.

POLICE PATROL NEWS

LaVista Park Patrol. Once again, I am glad to report that crime statistics in our area remain some of the lowest in DeKalb County, a sure sign that the patrol and the neighborhood working together is an effective

combination. 
I would like to stress to everyone the importance of calling 911 if you see anything that looks suspicious.  No matter how trivial you feel it might be, what you are observing may turn out to be a crime that could be pre

vented with a phone call.  A well-informed and active neighborhood is the main key to crime prevention.
Everyone will be opening his or her homes to the beautiful summer weather.  Use caution in what you leave
