n January 10, 1996, following a request from many residents, the LaVista Park Civic Association asked DeKalb County to study the traffic flows on Citadel Drive, Mayfair Drive, and Kingsley Circle. Residents wanted the county to recommend ways to slow down speeders in order to protect children playing in or near the street

After almost five years the DeKalb County Department of Traffic Engineering has completed a vehicular speed and volume study on the above mentioned streets. The conclusions of the 24-hour study were no surprise to anyone who has lived in this neighborhood for any
length of time. While traffic volume was NOT a problem, a significant amount of the traffic WAS speeding. The speeding ranged from many cars traveling at 40-60 MPH to several vehicles traveling in excess of 65 MPH and even some going as fast as 75 on our neighborhood streets.
